and Workshops @ AIT

Friday, November 8, 1:00 p.m.: Design for Manufacturability Lecture

The above lecture will be held in Room 106, Chalerm Prakiat Building and will be conducted by Dr. Pramod Kumar Jain, a candidate for a faculty position in the Field of Design and Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Systems Engineering Program, School of Advanced Technologies.

It will cover several important issues related with
manufacturability analysis of machined parts. A two-stage manufacturability analysis tool developed for manufacturability evaluation of turned parts with non-axisymmetric features will be the focus of presentation. The following aspects of the developed methodology will be covered:

  • Part representation for manufacturability analysis.
  • Feature-function analysis for consideration of manufacturability issues.
  • Establishing a correlation between the design and manufacturability related attributes.
  • Studies on preliminary manufacturability analysis.
  • Studies on secondary manufacturability analysis and recommendations.
  • Conclusion and recommendations for further research.

Members of FA&R; Panel, Search Panel, SAT faculty/staff/students are invited. All ISE students are expected to attend and interested persons are welcome.

December 11-13: EPSM training workshop on HVDC TRANSMISSION and FACTS TECHNOLOGY

The main topics that will be covered are as follows:

  • HVDC vs. HVAC transmission
  • Principal parts of HVDC transmission
  • Selection of converter configuration
  • Analysis of converters
  • HVDC controls
  • Converter faults and protection
  • Transient analysis of HVDC line
  • Introduction to FACTS technology
  • Basic types of FACTS controllers
  • Power system analysis with HVDC and FACTS controllers
  • Enhancing power system performance with FACTS controllers.

The registration fee is US$200 (8,000 Baht) per participant. For
attendees from government agencies, state enterprises, or universities, the registration fee is US$175 (7,000 Baht).
