Monday, May 17 and Tuesday, May 18, 2004: The International Conference on Gender, Development and Public Policy in an Era of Globalization will be jointly held by Gender & Development Studies, SERD, AIT, the Institute of Social Studies (Women, Gender & Development Department), the Netherlands and the University of Leeds (Centre for Development Studies Department), UK. The conference - to be held at the AIT Conference Center - is aimed to provide an international forum for researchers, scholars, academics and activists to discuss public policy in various fields within the development arena.
All interested faculty, staff and students are invited to attend the conference opening ceremony on Monday, May 17, 2004 at 9.00 a.m. in the AIT Conference Center Auditorium, as well as the scheduled technical sessions on (i) gender, conflict, migration and human security; (ii) gender, human rights and social policy; (iii) gender, economic development, technology and enterprise; and (iv) gender, environmental resource management.
Thursday, May 20, 2004: The 4th AIT-KIST International Joint Symposium will be held at the AIT Conference Center. Registration will start at 8:30 a.m. followed by the opening ceremony at 9:00 a.m. A background of the organization of the Joint International Symposium will be delivered by Prof. Huynh Ngoc Phien and Welcome Addresses will be delivered by Prof. Jean-Louis Armand, AIT President and You Seung Kim, KIST President.
The Symposium will present special sessions as follows: High Technology Research in Thailand; Nanomaterials; Bio-reactors; Manufacturing Processes; Environmental Processes and Analysis; Robotics; and Biotechnology and Food Engineering.
December 13-15, 2004: 2nd International Conference on Innovations in Food Processing Technology and Engineering will be held at the AIT Conference Center.
The role of food processing technology and engineering in the economic development need not be overemphasized. Food science, technology and engineering (FS&E;) have been at the very core of numerous development and achievements to make a wide variety of foods available year around in palatable, nutritious, aesthetically packaged, in terms of appearance, functionality, storability, nutrition, and economic viability of innovative processes and modern food products.
Realizing the concepts, putting in practice and reaping the harvest through successful marketing. The role of FS&E; has been indispensable in not only making the necessary tools available but in review of new developments in food processing technology and engineering along with dissemination of relevant information among scientists, engineers, technologists and other professionals.
Technical Program: The technical program will include plenary and keynote lectures, parallel lectures and poster sessions.
Original contributors, case histories, of actual industrial operations, state-of-the-art papers, and commercial information on the following subjects are invited.

Preliminary Registration: Contributions will be presented as keynote lectures, lectures or posters. The Technical Committee will make final decisions on the acceptance and allocation to oral or poster presentations. The abstract, not exceeding more than 300-400 words, should clearly indicate the objectives, brief methodology and conclusions.
The last date for the submission of abstracts is July 31, 2004. However, abstract received after the deadline will not be included in the proceedings but still be considered for presentation.
