ABSTRACT Recently, distribution system operation and management have been of interest to the utilities throughout the Asian region due to very limited financial resource from the government for new power plant investment.
<p>
Distribution Automation (DA) is implemented to reduce technical and
commercial losses, to improve information and cash flow through better
metering and billing system, to better energy efficiency and to improve
power quality, etc. Another type of automation System in power utilities is
Energy Management System (EMS). Both DA and EMS require SCADA (Supervisory
Control and Data Acquisition) system to do remote monitoring and to
facilitate remote control of devices.
