OTM celebrates a successful start

The Offshore Technology and Management Program at the School of Engineering and Technology is organizing Geoexploration & Offshore Technology and Management Day.

The event takes place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. 31 August 2006. It begins with the meeting of the nominated members of the OTM Industrial Advisory Board and representatives of the collaborator companies and Partner Universities at room N238, followed by a luncheon hosted by AIT President Said Irandoust at the AIT Conference Center and a G&OTM; Appreciation Session at the Civil Lounge.

From 1 to 3 p.m., there will be the G&OTM; Appreciation Session, to be opened by Prof. Irandoust. During the session, the president of Petroleum Institute of Thailand will express his thanks to Thailand's Department of Mineral Fuels, AIT and the industry for their joint efforts. Then there will be a presentation of scholarships for the August 2006 intake by representatives of the Department of Mineral Fuels , PTT Exploration and Production Public Company Limited of Thailand, CUEL Limited, Thai Nippon Steel Engineering and Construction Corporation Ltd., Chevron, Pearl Oil and Palang Sophon. Later, Bechtel Company will present grants for the OTM program, and Schlumberger Overseas will donate software.

Also, at the Appreciation Session, there will be the signing of an addendum to the memorandum of understanding on the joint programs in OTM by Prof. Irandoust and the director of the International Institute for Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation (ITC), The Netherlands, and the signing of bonded scholarship contracts between the sponsoring companies and bonded scholarship recipients.

At the end of the session, plaques of appreciations from AIT will be presented to representatives from the participating companies as well as City University of London and ITC.

The event will end with a cocktail party for all those participants related to the program.
