November 18, 2:00 p.m.: Seminar on the Global Environment Facility
The United Nations Environment Programme's (UNEP)
Division of Global Environment Facility Coordination (DGEF) and the Regional Resource Centre for Asia and the Pacific (RRC.AP) will organize a Seminar on the Global Environment Facility on November 18, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. in Room B202 of the AIT Conference Center.
Mr. John Pernetta, an officer of UNEP DGEF Office in Nairobi, Kenya will give a background on GEF, its on-going projects, and procedures for preparing project proposals.
All interested AIT Faculty and researchers are invited to come.
November 19, 1:00 p.m.: Remote Sensing of Coral Reefs
The STAR Program, School of Advanced Technologies will
hold a seminar entitled Remote Sensing of Coral Reefs
to be held on Tuesday, November 19, 1:00 p.m.in room E220 (Academic Building)
The seminar will be conducted by Dr. Sunil Narumalani, Associate Professor, CALMIT, 113 Nebraska Hall, University of Nebraska, USA.
December 11-13: EPSM training workshop on HVDC TRANSMISSION and FACTS TECHNOLOGY
The main topics that will be covered are as follows:
- HVDC vs. HVAC transmission
- Principal parts of HVDC transmission
- Selection of converter configuration
- Analysis of converters
- HVDC controls
- Converter faults and protection
- Transient analysis of HVDC line
- Introduction to FACTS technology
- Basic types of FACTS controllers
- Power system analysis with HVDC and FACTS controllers
- Enhancing power system performance with FACTS controllers.
The registration fee is US$200 (8,000 Baht) per participant. For
attendees from government agencies, state enterprises, or universities, the registration fee is US$175 (7,000 Baht).
Accommodation can be arranged at AIT Conference Center or a hotel near AIT upon request of participant.
