Background:
The border between telecommunications and mass communication does not exist anymore, and that has an effect on a) contents of communications, b) organizations, c) legislation, and d) technology [which is an engine of the convergence process].
On our way towards Information Society, the understanding of the effects
of convergence is an essential tool. The description of the eEurope Project as an example on how Europe is trying to compete with the USA and Japan, is one part of the lessons with Japanese DoCoMo I-mode success story. Digital tv with Internet access and super text-tv is described also from the point of view of convergence. The lessons also cover the dangers of Information Society
All interested persons are cordially invited. All TC students are
recommended to attend for this lecture.
