AIT, through the Southeast Asia Urban Environmental Management Applications Project, and the Urban Research Institute, will hold a presentation called 'Professional Training Program on Urban Environmental Planning and Management' in Champasak, Lao PDR, 20-23 February 2006.

The four-day training aims to provide the participants with updated information and skills on the concepts and practices in urban environmental management. About 30 participants, mostly planners and staff from the government and non-governmental organizations from Vientiane, Bolikhamxai, Pakse, Thakherk and Savanakhet, are expected to attend the training.

After the training, a networking meeting will be held at the same venue. The meeting aims to expand water and sanitation, solid waste and air pollution networks in Lao PDR. To date, the project's urban environmental management sub-sector networks in the country have seven institutional and four individual members. The meeting also aims to facilitate the formation of more partnership activities, which the environmental management applications project can fund, focusing on areas such as gender, pilot projects, air pollution, etc. The meeting will be held on 24 February 2006.
