Internet courses offered to prospective water professionals
The Regional United Nations Water Virtual Learning Centre at AIT invites prospective water professionals to apply for its Internet-based curriculum in integrated water resources management, which begins in August.
This distance based e-Learning program consists of 10 25-hour courses and leads to a diploma on successful completion.
The special feature of the program lies in its delivery, which consists of both face-to-face and distance-based learning. Two courses will be conducted face-to-face at AIT for two weeks each, and the other courses will be conducted online, each for about seven to eight weeks.
The program curriculum covers hydrology, terrestrial ecosystem, land use changes, aquatic ecosystem, water uses and wastewater, governance and community-based approaches and organizational infrastructure and management.
The course is open to those with a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a water-related field or those working in the water sector for three years. Applicants must be residents of Asian countries, proficient in English, computer literate, have Internet access, be under 40 years old, be in good health and have an employer's nomination. Application deadline is 1 May 2006.
