Institute Forum takes place 29 March
AIT President Prof. Said Irandoust invites the AIT community to participate in an Institute Forum on Wednesday, 29 March 2006, from 2 to 4:30 p.m. at the AIT Conference Center auditorium.
In a follow-up to his recent announcement on the institute's financial performance for 2005, the president will present some of the measures that AIT needs to put in place to address the current financial situation.
Prof. Irandoust said he is aware of the concerns raised by members of the community with regard to the reduction in the Provident Fund contribution by the institute and the change in the office working hours without prior consultation with the community at large. These measures have been considered as immediate actions to be taken and not been brought to the Decision Meeting in light of the severity of the current financial situation, he said. He will be meeting with the Faculty Relations Committee prior to the forum to address some of these issues and will be further elaborating upon these aspects at the forum.
AIT is currently engaged in the preparation of a five-year strategic development plan, and AIT will be informing the community on the progress made and also highlighting some of the key aspects of the document which draws on elements from the strategic development plans prepared by the schools, AIT Extension, AIT Center Vietnam and administrative offices.
The president views this exercise as being of strategic importance and significance for the future of the institute given its lack of core support or funding and clear ownership. One important objective of this exercise is to secure a more sustainable financial situation that will allow AIT to better respond to changes in the region and maintain its development-oriented approach.
