Workshop deals with water management

An international workshop on: 'Earth Observation in Water Management Services' takes place from 26 to 28 September 2006 at Rama Gardens Hotel.

With a focus on Asia, the workshop aims to exchange information on best practices for applications of Earth observations for water resource management; exchange information on available data and tools for applications of Earth observations for water resource management; consolidate regional requirements upon existing requirements for Earth observations and capacity building activities for water resource management; discuss and propose a next step of the regional capacity-building projects for applications of Earth observations for water resource management.

Expected output from the workshop is a proposal based on real regional needs on regional the capacity building projects for applications of Earth observations for water resource management.

The workshop is expected to have representatives from World Climate Research Programme/Global Energy and Water Cycle Experiment, World Meteorological Organization, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific, International Centre for Water Hazard and Risk Management and Public Works Research Institute, Japan.
