The East-West Center (EWC), Honolulu and the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Bangkok will co-organize the international workshop on “Near-roadway and on-road exposures to air pollution: risk communication and decision making”. This is a pre-event of the Better Air Quality 2008 workshop organized by the Clean Air Initiative for Asian Cities Partnership (CAI-Asia). The workshop will be held on 9-11 November, 2008, at the AITCC, Bangkok.
The objective of the workshop is to develop collaborations between researchers in the US and a few select Asian countries through a mix of case studies and reviews and strengthen educational links. Four major sessions listed below will provide a dynamic platform among researchers to exchange ideas/solutions and identify knowledge gaps about perceptions of air pollution in the developing world.
Session 1 – Urban air pollution and human exposure
Session 2 – Risk perceptions, communication and decision making
Session 3 – Identification of knowledge gap and research needs
Session 4 – Development of a research framework
One of the activities is interaction with AIT students and students from other universities in Asia. For more details, please contact Dr. Nguyen Thi Kim Oanh or Dr. Sumeet Saksena at the address given below.
