The Greater Mekong Subregion Academic and Research Network (GMSARN) will hold the Third GMSARN International Conference 2008 on "Sustainable Development: Issues and Prospects for the Greater Mekong Subregion", 12-14 November 2008 at Kunming, China.
After the success of the two previous GMSARN International Conferences in 2006 and 2007, the Third International Conference of 2008 helps to unite the member countries together in solving crucial trans-boundary problems.
The GMSARN International Conference is a multi-disciplinary conference which is mainly a problem based conference with respect to area specific conferences one finds elsewhere. In this aspect GMSARN Conference is unique hosting a wide range of disciplines.
The conference’s aim is to initiate and stimulate international discussion on the various sustainable issues in the GMS, specifically in the areas of energy, environment, natural resource management, and development planning. It is also envisaged that the conference will be able to generate shared solutions beneficial to the sustainability and also the findings and recommendations will be useful for GMSARN in its research programs as well as for the future GMS.

June 30, 2008: Deadline for extended abstracts submission
August 1, 2008: Notification of acceptance
September 19, 2008: Deadline for early bird registration and full paper submission
The early bird registration fee is 14,000 Baht (3,000 RMB). Late or on-site registration fee is 16,000 Baht (3,500 RMB). For participants from GMSARN member institutions, the registration fee is 9,000 Baht (2,000 RMB). The student fee is 7,000 Baht (1,500 RMB). This fee covers costs of lunch, refreshments, welcome dinner and conference kit.
