23 February 2009: “ROBIO 2008” – IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Biomimetics

H.E. Dr. Khunying Kalaya Sophonpanich, Minister of Science and Technology, Thailand, will preside over the opening ceremony of the 2008 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Biomimetics, ROBIO 2008, on 23 February 2009, from 8:30 – 9:00 a.m., Rainbow Room, 5th Floor, Imperial Queen’s Park Hotel, Bangkok, Thailand.

The conference of the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society will attract many of the world’s leading researchers and scholars in the field of robotics and biomimetics.  Already, IEEE ROBIO 2008 has received more than 530 contributed papers, the largest number ever in the history of robotics conferences organized in Thailand.

Out of all the academic contributions, about 50 papers are from Thailand, and the remaining are from China, Japan, Korea, USA, Hong Kong, Macau, India, Singapore, Europe. More than 500 delegations are expected to attend the conference.

The Asian Institute of Technology (Thailand) is the main organizer of this international conference, together with the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society (IEEE RAS), and Michigan State University (USA), with technical support from the Thai Robotics Society, the Robotics Society of Japan, the Society of Instrument and Control Engineers, the Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers, the ROBIO Foundation, and National Electronics and Computer Technology Center (NECTEC).
