Background and objective:
The workshop aims at assisting developing countries formulate comprehensive, locally appropriate and environmentally sound low carbon technology projects.
In this context, UNIDO has initiated a project titled “Pilot Appraisal for low carbon technology innovation and diffusion in Thai manufacturing sectors”. The project seeks to demonstrate the potential of existing centres and networks to initiate, catalyze and accelerate the development, deployment and dissemination of low carbon technologies in the cement and pulp and paper manufacturing sectors in Thailand.
This pilot project being carried out by AIT is expected to provide:
• Greater awareness of the potential for utilizing existing technologies and innovation related centers for development, deployment and dissemination of low carbon technologies
• Key activities required to effectively engage existing centres and networks into the global effort to up-scale and speed up the development, deployment and dissemination of low carbon technologies,
• Status of low carbon technology deployed and possibilities for deployment in the manufacturing sectors in Thailand
As part of the project and to obtain feedback from the various stakeholders, AIT plans to conduct a workshop on “Low carbon technology innovation and diffusion in Thai manufacturing sectors”.

Participants:
Participants to the workshop are expected from the cement and pulp and paper industry, Ministry of energy, Ministry of industry, UNIDO, UNEP, UNESCAP, academic and research institutes, and NGO/INGOs.
