APMUN is co-sponsored by the ASEAN Regional Center of Excellence on Millennium Development Goals (ARCMDG) in collaboration with the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) and its 50-year academic experience. AIT is the first institute of higher learning of its type granted International Intergovernmental Organization status.
At APMUN delegates will gain insight into the workings of the United Nations and the dynamics of international relations by assuming the roles of UN representatives and members of other international bodies and national cabinets, as well as Press Officers. The Asia-Pacific MUN has a special focus on sustainable development and the MDGs.
During the conference, students will learn the importance of balancing national interests with the needs of the international community, while also learning about the power and limitations of international negotiation. Delegates will preserve their countries’ national policy while negotiating with others, sometimes conflicting, international policies. APMUN will provide students with an unparalleled opportunity to experience the theory and practice of international relations firsthand. In particular Asia-Pacific International MUN will host specific UN bodies and IGOs attracting more than two thousand students from Asia and the rest of the world.
During the 5-days Conference, Delegates will have the unique opportunity to enrich their work thanks to several meetings with prestigious international Institutions and UN representatives.
