Lecture on Managing Natural Disasters in a Changing Climate: Methods and Tools for a Systems Approach" Prof. Slobodan P. Simonovic will deliver an Institute-wide lecture titled "Managing Natural Disasters in a Changing Climate: Methods and Tools for a Systems Approach" on 24 March 2015 from 14:00-15:00 hours at the Milton E. Bender Jr. Auditorium.

A “Planning Workshop for Developing a Framework for Cooperation between IGAC Activities in Asia”, will be organized at Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) Conference Center from 2-3 March 2015. The workshop is sponsored by the National Institute for Environmental Studies (NIES), Japan and it is being organized by the International Global Atmospheric Chemistry (IGAC) and Prof.

The AIT Library in collaboration with Elsevier is organizing two workshop on ScienceDirect and Scopus on 20 March 2015 from 10:00-12:30 hours at the Milton E. Bender Jr. Auditorium.The workshop on “Empower your research with ScienceDirect” will be held from 10:00-11:00 hours followed by the workshop on “Using Scopus as a Research and Publishing Tool’ from 11:00-12:30 hours.

A Regional Forum on Climate Change (RFCC) will be organized jointly by the Asian Institute of Technology; French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development; ASEAN Secretariat, and the European Union (EU) from 1-3 July 2015 at the AIT Conference Center.

Designed by the Climate Technology Center and Network (CTCN), Consortium Partner of the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), expert resource persons for the seminar will be Dr. Sangam Shrestha: expert in climate change assessments and adaptation; Dr. Shobhakar Dhakal: expert in energy policies, carbon market and finance, and low carbon society; Dr. Vilas Nitivattananon: expert in infrastructural planning, climate and coastal cities; and Prof.

About the Speaker: Dr. Atiur Rahman took the helm of the Central Bank of Bangladesh in 2009 as the 10th Governor of Bangladesh Bank, the country's monetary policy authority, financial sector regulator and supervisor. Prior to his assumption of the office of the Governor, he was a Professor of Economics at the University of Dhaka, and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Shamunnay, a centre for excellence in development research in Bangladesh.

Dr. Bindu N Lohani, Vice-President (Knowledge Management and Sustainable Development), Asian Development Bank (ADB), will deliver a talk on “Development and Innovation Challenges in Asia: Role of Knowledge Institutions” at the Milton E. Bender Jr. Auditorium from 13:00-14:15 hours on 25 February 2015. An AIT alumnus, Dr. Lohani has served as Chairman and Associate Professor of the Division of Environmental Engineering at AIT, prior to joining the ADB. Dr. Lohani is a current member of the AIT Board of Trustees.

The AIT Career Fair will be organized on 1 April 2015 from 0900-1700 hours at the AIT Conference Center. The day-long event will provide an opportunity to students to interact with various employers.An AIT Student Union “Research Exhibition” will also be held the same day where students will showcase their prototypes and present their posters.
