Students Union of the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) will be organizing a Welcome Show for new students at the AIT Conference Center Auditorium on 17 September 2010. The Welcome Show will showcase cultural events from various countries.

The Career Center is organizing a Workshop on Interpersonal Skills for Professional Development to be conducted by Mr. Steven Hiatt on 15 September 2010 from 1:30 pm - 3:30 pm at the Milton Bender Auditorium.This workshop is for those wanting to take an important step toward increasing their productivity and improving their relationships in a workplace environment - whether they deal with people one-on-one or in a group setting.

Dr. Francisco Miguel Portela da Gama of the University of Minho, Portugal will deliver a seminar on “Biomedical applications of bacterial cellulose and self-assembled nanogels," on 10 September 2010 at 2.00 pm. Organized by the Center of Excellence in Nanotechnology (CoEN), the seminar will be held in Room 102, at the Outreach Building at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT).Abstract:Bacterial cellulose is a biomaterial with excellent mechanical properties, high water holding ability that can be produced with a pre-defined shape like tubular structures.

Representatives of Institute of International Education (IIE) will deliver a scholarship talk on 1 September 2010 at 1:30 pm in Room B108, AIT Conference Center. The presentation will focus on East-West Center (EWC) Scholarships/Fellowships for Fall 2011 semester in Honolulu, Hawaii, USA. Myanmar students are specifically encouraged to attend the program.

Faculty, staff and students are invited to participate in the inception workshop on “Area-Wide Integrated Pest Management of Fruit Flies in South and Southeast Asian Countries” being held at the Asian Institute of Technology between 1-3 September 2010. Participants get to interact with the invited scientists and participants from the agriculture ministries in the region.

A one day training course on “CSR Essentials” is being organized by the CSR Asia Center at AIT. It is an introduction to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Participants will be taken through the fundamentals of CSR, examining the development of CSR specifically in the context of the Asia-Pacific region.
