AIT’s Telecommunications and ICT Field of Studies, School of Engineering and Technology (SET), together with IILM Institute of Higher Education, India, is organizing an International workshop on “Next Generation Wireless: Business Opportunities & Challenges” on 13 November 2009 at Delhi (India).Speakers and participants include luminaries from the academia and Telecom Industry in Delhi.

Dr. Latif Al-Hakim will deliver a seminar titled “System Approach for Reducing Variation and Errors within Healthcare Services by using ‘Lean Thinking’ Concept”, on Friday 6 November 2009 at 10.30-12.00 hrs., at room 106, Chalerm Prakiat Building, ISE.Abstract:The landmark report of the American Institute of Medicine (IOM) released on 2000 titled “To err is Human: Building a Safer Health System” reveals a high level of waste and error rates in hospitals.

The AIT Centre for Learning Innovation and Quality is planning a series of activities and processes to explore and support Learning and Teaching in our community. There will be Panel and Round Table Discussions, Focus Group Discussions, Seminar Presentations, Workshops and special events attached to relevant Conferences in the Bangkok area.

Telecoms Sans Frontieres (TSF) will make a presentation on its response to Typhoons Ketsana and Parma. The TSF team has just returned from the Philippines after providing communications both to the humanitarian community and to those affected for almost one month.

Prof. Philippe Gourbesville, Director of Polytech'Nice-Sophia, France will deliver a presentation on study and research opportunities at Polytech'Nice-Sophia, France. The presentation will take place on 29 October, 2009 in Room E220, SERD Building, from 2:00-3:00 p.m.University of Nice-Sophia Antipolis is the second largest multi-disciplinary university in France with 25,000 students.

Mr. Douglas Becker, Chairman and CEO of Laureate Education Inc. will deliver an extra mural lecture on the topic “Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) in the Context of Higher Learning: A Future Model for Collaboration”. The talk will take place at the Milton E. Bender Jr. Auditorium at AIT, on 28 October 2009 from 2:00-4:00 p.m.About Douglas L. Prof. Mohammad Taherzadeh, Professor in Biotechnology at School of Engineering, University of Borås will deliver a talk on the “knowledge and technology transfer on waste refinery between Sweden and Thailand" on 27 October 2009. The presentation will take place at the AIT Board Room from 11.00 – 12.00 noon.

Prof. A. Jaafari, President of Asia Pacific International College, Australia will deliver a special lecture on the topic "The Making of Professional Managers and Leaders: How to suceed on the Face of a Fast Changing World" . The lecture will be delivered on Tuesday, 27 October 2009 between 11.00-12.30 hrs at room number E-220.Prof.

This WirelessU Workshop, "Wireless Internet - Emergency Networks" is co-organized by RISTEK-Indonesia, AIT and NECTEC, with support of ISIF.asia, ISOC, NSRC, THNIC Foundation and NetworkTheWorld.org in order to provide participants hands-on experience on WiMAX technologies and deploying mobile wireless network on an ad hoc basis for emergency conditions, such as after a natural disaster when a fixed network infrastructure is not available or had been destroyed.
