24 October: Prof. A.T.M. Amin to deliver Professorial lecture

Prof. A.T.M. Nurul Amin of Urban Environmental Management in the School of Environment, Resources and Development (SERD) at AIT will present a Professorial Lecture on “Legacies in Planning Education: Economic Aspects of the Informal Sector & Urban Environmental Management” on Wednesday, 24 October 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at AIT Center Auditorium

Abstract

This lecture is a personal account of an economist whose knowledge pursuit has been in the problematic of development, urbanization and environment and the professional work on the informal sector and urban environmental management.

19 October: ‘Children of the World’ gala concert

The AIT-Golden Jubilee Fundraising Campaign (GJFC) and the AIT Community School are organizing a gala concert "Children of the World" based on the theme of the U.N. day to  be held on the 19th of October, 2007 at the AIT Centre Auditorium at 9:30 a.m.

Tickets  for the show are being sold by Ms. Lucena D. The proceeds from the tickets will be given by  GJFC to the AIT Community School.

15 – 19 October: ACECOMS’ special training on nonlinear analysis of reinforced concrete and masonry structures

The Asian Center for Engineering Computations and Software (ACECOMS) established in 1995 is regional level, non-profit organization located at School of Engineering and Technology (SET), Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Thailand.

 

ACECOMS continues to organize series of seminars and workshops on various aspects of Computer Aided Analysis and Design of Structures.

19 September 2007: Special Gender Sensitivity Workshop by Ms. Nelien Haspels

Ms. Nelien Haspels, Senior Gender Specialist, International Labour Organization, Sub-regional Office for East Asia, kindly agreed to facilitate a series of gender sensitivity workshops/trainings at AIT. The workshop conducted on 31 August entitled, "Gender Mainstreaming in Institutions of Higher Learning" and "Action Against Sexual Harassment" was attended by the Dean, School of Engineering and Technology (SET), Associate Dean for New Development, SET, some of Field of Study Coordinators from the three Schools, members of the faculty, staff and students.

17 September 2007: Seminar on Expert CAD System Applications for Agricultural Engineering Research

Dr. Ryozo Nougchi, currently a visiting Associate Professor at ASE / SERD, who is Associate Professor, Department of Environmental Engineering, Faculty of Agriculture, Utsunomiya University, Utsunomiya City, 321-8505 Japan, will give a seminar on "Expert CAD system Applications for Agricultural Engineering Research: A case study for the rotary blade arrangement" on 17 September 2007, at 10:00 – 11:30 a.m., Room 221, AFE Building
