A.I.T. and Chulalongkorn University -Thailand Urban Development Seminar Series
SPATIAL CHANGE IN METROPOLITAN OFFICE MARKETS: INTERDEPENDENCE, DIFFUSION AND ISOLATION by Dr. Eamonn D'Arcy, Lecturer & Research Fellow, Centre for Spatial and Real Estate Economics, University of Reading, UK, on Wednesday, 9 February at 3.00 p.m. in Seminar Room 304, Faculty of Architecture Bldg., Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok.
Dr. Eamonn D'Arcy has carried out research into the impact of new information technology on the location of the offices of business firms within the metropolitan area and on the related pattern of rental prices for office space.
One of his main findings is that the firms choosing an office location place more emphasis on a combination of accessibility to other firms and to 'workforce amenity' than to a requirement for face-to-face contact. The institutional structure of the property sub-market and its recent development history are also relevant factors.
Dr. D'Arcy's research and analysis on the location of offices within the metropolitan areas of Western cities will be of particular interest as the mis-location of many of the new office buildings in Bangkok is an important element in the recovery from the current over-supply of office space across the metropolis.
All interested persons are invited to attend.(Skytrain to Siam station.) Enquiries to Ray Archer on ext. 5605 (AIT) and 679 4263 (home).
