New Course Offering

The new elective course ED09.98L: Life Cycle Assessment of Products and Systems, 3(3-0), to be offered in the May 2000 term by the Environmental Technology and Management field of study, will be held on Wednesdays, 11.00-11.50 a.m., Room E108 and Fridays, 10.00-11.50 a.m., Room E108.

Students who have registered for the Master's Program in 'Cleaner Production' are encouraged to take this course.

WELCOME
The School of Environment, Resources and Development and the Urban Environmental Engineering and Management Program cordially welcome Dr. PER H. NIELSEN from Denmark as an Associate Professor. He is seconded by Danida for 2 years.

Dr. Nielsen holds a M.Sc. in Chemical Engineering and a Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering from the Technical University of Denmark.

Dr. Arthit Ourairat, Minister of Science, Technology and Environment (MOSTE) of Thailand, was the honored guest at an international workshop, 'Creating Sustainable Cities through Urban Environmental Management', organized by the Urban Environmental Management Project of the Canadian Universities Consortium and AIT and sponsored by Environment Canada.

Training courses and other activities: On 11-16 February, the AIT Preparatory Mission for the Public System Management Masters Program Proposal, composed of Dr. Joel Broustail, Dr. Do Ba Khang and Prof. Nguyen Cong Thanh, visited Hanoi and, together with AITCV officials, held meetings at Hanoi University of Technology, the National Economics University; the Ministry of Education and Training, Ministry of Planning and Investment; the embassies of Finland, France, Netherlands, Sweden and Switzerland, and the offices of the World Bank, Asian Development Bank, and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization.

The AIT Alumni Association is pleased to announce the recipients of the AITAA Research Grant for the September 1999 Term. This grant, which is supplemental to available scholarship funds, enables the recipients to return to their home countries to undertake investigation and data collection.

Welcome Dr. Kathe R. Jensen

WELCOME
The School of Environment, Resources and Development and the Integrated Tropical Coastal Zone Management (ITCZM) area of specialization, cordially welcome Dr. KATHE R. JENSEN from Denmark as an Associate Professor. She is seconded by Danida for 2 years, starting 15 February 2000.

Dr. Jensen obtained her Ph.D in marine biology from Florida Institute of Technology in 1980 and D.Sc. from the University of Copenhagen in 1997. Prior to joining AIT, Dr. Jensen was an Associate Professor with the Zoological Museum, University of Copenhagen.
