THE MONTH AT AITCV - FEBRUARY 2000
Training courses and other activities: On 11-16 February, the AIT Preparatory Mission for the Public System Management Masters Program Proposal, composed of Dr. Joel Broustail, Dr. Do Ba Khang and Prof. Nguyen Cong Thanh, visited Hanoi and, together with AITCV officials, held meetings at Hanoi University of Technology, the National Economics University; the Ministry of Education and Training, Ministry of Planning and Investment; the embassies of Finland, France, Netherlands, Sweden and Switzerland, and the offices of the World Bank, Asian Development Bank, and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization.
Management Training Courses: The following courses were held: 21-25 February, 'Project Monitoring Evaluation' by Dr. Do Ba Khang; February 21 to March 1, 'Office Management for NGOs' by Dr. Wickramanayake, and February 28 to March 2, 'Designing and Implementing Corporate & Business Strategy' by Dr. Lalit M. Johri.
Executive MBA: AIT/SOM and AITCV are launching the EMBA in Vietnam for middle and senior level managers. The first advertisement appeared in February for the May 2000 intake.
Industrial Systems Engineering (ISE): The sixth intake of the ISE Program (25 candidates) has been selected for the Pre-Master Talkbase Program, which will begin on 13 March supported by AITCV. The candidates are now waiting for scholarships from MOET and Petro Vietnam. Five high-tech training courses promoted by ISE and partially supported by AITCV in February were the following: Computer Numerical Control (CNC), Maintenance Management, Computer Aided Project Management, Computerized Financial Accounting, and Plastic Injection Mold Design.
Language and Training Unit (LTU): A course in 'Interpreting Skills' was conducted on 14-25 February. 'Effective Presentation Skills' was conducted by Mr. Thomas David Chavez on 28 February-2 March.
