Dr. LILIA AUSTRIACO (SEC' 65), Manager of Information Resources Centers, has been selected as OUTSTANDING MAPUAN (TOM) FOR THE YEAR 2000 IN THE FIELD OF INFORMATION SCIENCE. The TOM award is the most prestigious award for MIT alumni and is jointly awarded by the Mapua Institute Technology and the National Association of Mapua Alumni (NAMA). The award ceremony will take place on Saturday, May 13, 2000 in
Manila.

THAI LANGUAGE CLASS FOR BEGINNERS

CLET will organize an additional Thai language class for beginners, focusing
on speaking, listening and conversational skills.

The class will
be held on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays (4.00 - 5.30 p.m.)
start from May 15th,
run for a total of 30 hours,
be restricted to fifteen persons per group,
cost 1,500 baht/person.

COOPERATION IN SPACE TECHNOLOGY

On April 26 H. E. Mr. Christian Prettre, the Ambassador of France to Thailand, presented AIT a Software Multiscope from MATRA Systems and Information, further enhancing the Institute's long-standing cooperation with France in the field of spatial imagery, remote sensing and its applications in relation to GIS.

The software consists of a set of CDROMS with capability for connecting
simultaneously 255 users.
