ADB-sponsored scholarship program for Sri Lankans

On June 21 Mr. H. S. Padmasiri De alwis (right), Consultant, Asian Development Bank (ADB) Science and Technology Personnel Development Project, Sri Lanka visited AIT to discuss the ADB-sponsored scholarship program at AIT for Sri Lankan government officials. Background: In January 2000 AIT offered a special package endorsed by the Honorable Minister of Science and Technology to ADB Science and Technology Personnel Development Project. The programs offers admission into the Master's and split Ph.D. studies to qualified candidates from seven universities and five research and development institutions in Sri Lanka coming under the purview of the project. AIT admitted the 1st batch of students in January and May 2000 terms. Eight students will be enrolling in the September term.

The meeting on June 21 discussed future postgraduate programs in science, technology, and management, which can be sponsored by the ADB Project. Mr. De alwis also met with the students to obtain their feedback on the quality, relevance and benefits of their degree studies at AIT.
