World Habitat Day 2000: Women and Urban Governance
The Urban Management Programme (UMP)/AIT Core Group, consisting of faculty from the Urban Environmental Management (UEM) and Gender and Development (GenDev) fields of study, is sponsoring World Habitat Day in Thailand under the theme 'Women and Urban Governance.
Vietnam EMBA Launched
Nineteen managers and business professionals from Vietnamese companies have joined the International Executive MBA (EMBA) program which opened at the AIT Center in Vietnam (AITCV) on 18 September. AIT's International EMBA is being offered in Vientam for the first time.
Samak pushes for extension of BTS routes and construction of low-cost, medium-rise flats
Revealing his plans for Bangkok's infrastructure development, Mr. Samak Sundaravej, Governor of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), said that priority is being given to expanding the routes of the Bangkok Transport System (BTS) and constructing low-cost medium-rise flats.

Sixty officers from the Command and General Staff College, the Institute of Advanced Military Studies, Royal Thai Army, recently visited the Distributed Education Center (DEC) and the Asian Center for Research and Remote Sensing, STAR Program.

Wanted: Desk Officer for UMP-AIT Core Group
The UNCHS/Urban Management Programme (UMP)-AIT Core Group is urgently seeking
a Desk Officer who will assist in various outreach activities such as city
consultations and action programs in the region. The Desk Officer will
coordinate the activities engaged in by the concerned FoS (Urban Environmental
Management and Gender and Development Studies) within UMP-AIT, as well
as act as the day-to-day contact person for such activities and other related
concerns.
