first AIT President, passes away

 

The AIT Community mourns the death of Dr. Milton E. Bender Jr., founding President of the Asian Institute of Technology. Dr. Bender passed away on 12 August 2000 in Sun City, Arizona, USA.

Dr. Bender was the third Dean of the SEATO Graduate School of Engineering, serving from May 1963 to December 1967. He played a key role in the transformation of the School into the Asian Institute of Technology and served as its first President from January 1968 to February 1973. He served a second term as President from January 1975 to January 1977.

Prof. Fujiwara awarded Third Class of the Most Noble Order of the Crown of Thailand

Prof. O. Fujiwara, an associated faculty in the Urban Environmental Engineering and Management Program, SERD, and Chief Advisor of the JICA Thammasat University Project, has been awarded Third Class of the Most Noble Order of the Crown of Thailand by H.M. the King of Thailand.
