VISITING AIT
An internship arrangement for students from James Madison College at the Michigan State University (MSU) was discussed during the visit of Dr. Murari Suvedi, Assistant Dean, International Studies and Program, and Dr. Grant Littke, Coordinator of Field Study Program, JMC/ MSU, on 7 February. Under this internship program, 15 to 20 JMC students will spend one semester at AIT. The internship will be coordinated by Dr. Ganesh P. Shivakoti of the Agricultural Systems and Engineering field of study, Rural Development, Gender and Resources Program, SERD.

On the same day, 21 training scholars from the Asian Regional Center-Asian Vegetable Research and Development Center (ARD-AVRDC) conducted a study tour of AIT activities in vegetable research and production. The training scholars are nationals of Bhutan, Cambodia, China, Lao PDR, Myanmar, and Vietnam. They participated in ARC-AVRDC's 20th Regional Training Course in Vegetable Production, Research and Extension and met with Prof. Mario T. Tabucanon, Provost, Prof. Vilas M. Salokhe, Coordinator of the Agricultural Systems and Engineering (ASE) field of study, and Dr. S. L. Ranamukhaarachchi, ASE faculty.
ARC-AVRDC is a cooperative regional center run by the Asian Vegetable Reserach and Development Center and Kasetsart University, on behalf of the Royal Government of Thailand.

A joint cooperation program involving AIT, the University of Washington, USA, and Nordic industries and universities was the subject of discussions with Dr. Arild Schanke Eikum, Research Director, and Mr. Thor Krogh, Regional Representative Southeast Asia, Interconsult, Norway, on 11 February.
The program covers student exchange and research collaboration. The visitors met with Prof. Chongrak Polprasert, Dean, School of Environment, Resources and Development, Prof. A.T.M. Nurul Amin, Coordinator of the Urban Environmental Management field of study, and Dr. Nguyen Thi Kim Oanh, Coordinator of the Environmental Technology and Management field of study.
