Visiting AIT

On 27 February, Prof. Ido Perlman, Dean of Graduate School, and Prof. Zvi Kohavi, Director of the Technion Research and Development Institute, Technion-Israel Institute of Technology, came to AIT to explore possible collaboration between both Institutes on MBA program and discuss on grants, technology transfer and faculty collaboration. They met with Prof. Mario T. Tabucanon, Provost; Prof. Himangshu Paul, Dean of School of Mangement; and Dr. Kanchana Kanchanasut, Chairman of Information Technology Steering Committee, AIT.

Danida Delegation

From 11-20 March, 2002, a delegation from the Danish International
Development Assistance (Danida), led by Mr. Michael Linddal,
Technical Adviser, Danida, came to AIT for the Mid-term Review
of the Danida support to the General Program and the 3 Special Programs,
under the Danida-AIT Co-operation Program from1999-2004.

The Review Mission also consisted of Mr. Henrik Secher
Marcussen,
Professor of Roskide University; Mr. Rudolf Greulich,
Water Management Specialist, Carl Bro a/s; and Ms. Voralak Kosakul,
Development Cooperation Officer, Royal Danish Embassy, Bangkok. A meeting
with the AIT President was held on 18 March 2002.

The overall Danida-AIT Cooperation includes: The General
Program; the three Special Programs -
Integrated Watershed Development
and Management (IWDM), Integrated Tropical Coastal Zone Management (ITCZM),
and Modelling Tools for Environmental and Resources Management (MTERM);
and the Aquaculture Outreach Project.

The General Program, which started on July 2, 1999,
aims at providing and enhancing technical and managerial
skills on sustainable development of natural resources and the environment
in the region. The Three Special Programs aims at strengthening
the overall capacity of Asian policy makers, planners and academics and
managers on resource development and management issues relating to
integrated watershed, river basin and coastal zone management, including
the application of modelling tools for environmental and natural resource
management. The Programs started on 17 December 1999.

The Aquaculture Outreach Project had its mid-term review
in 2001.
