Visiting AIT

A Delegation from Zhejiang University, People's Republic of China, visited AIT on 27 March and met with Prof. Mario T. Tabucanon, Provost, Prof. H. N. Phien, Dean of School of Advanced Technologies (SAT); and Dr. Ziaoyong Chen.
The Delegation discussed with Prof. H. N. Phien, Dean of SAT on different possibilities of collaboration between AIT and Zhejiang University including the exchange of students annually. Prof. H. N. Phien was invited to visit Zhejiang University to discuss specific programs which can start as soon as formalizations are made. This coincides with the plan of SAT to explore the possibility of having two-stage Master's program in China PR, similar to the ones existing in Viet Nam.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs, The Netherlands
On 4 April, Mr. Chris De Nie, Head of the Asian Desk, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, The Netherlands, accompanied by Ms. Bonnie Horbach, Second Secretary, Dutch Embassy, Bangkok, visited AIT.
The meeting focused on 24 scholarship per year with four priority countries (Bangladesh, India, Sri Lanka and Viet Nam) targeted. In addition, field of studies encouraged for scholars coming from these priority countries are encouraged in Integrated Water Management, Sustainable Use of Natural Resources and Urban Engineering and Environmental Management.
The Institute mission and academic reform process were also presented by AIT administration. They also met with Mr. Benjamin A. Gargabite, Admission-Scholarship Officer and were briefed on the Bioprocess Technology field of study by Prof. Atthapol Noomhorm, BPT Field of Study Coordinator; and Dr. Shrinivas M. Rao, BPT Senior Laboratory.

Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), Pakistan
On the same day, Dr. Syed Zahoor Hassan, Pro-Vice Chancellor, the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), Pakistan, visited AIT to discuss possible collaboration between LUMS and AIT through student exchange and research collaboration in management and information technology areas.
