Alumni Relations Panel Meeting

H.E. Mr. Hemayet Uddin, Ambassador of Bangladesh and H.E. Mr. Heikki Tuunanen, Ambassador of Finland, Co-Chairmen of the AIT Alumni Relations Panel of AIT Board of Trustees, chaired the AIT Alumni Relations Panel Meeting which was held at AIT Conference Center on 23 April 2002. The Meeting was attended by AIT Administration led by Prof. Jean-Louis Armand, AIT President, and Mr. Chainarong Na Lamphun (WRE '80), AITAA President, and fourteen Representatives from Alumni Association National Chapters: Mr. Bennett Bandalan Tesara, AITAA-Australia President; Mr. Syed Monzur Hussain Bkohari, AITAA-Bangladesh President; Mr. Karma Jimba, AITAA-Bhutan Representative; Mr. Vannthoeun Ung, AITAA-Cambodia President; Mr. Zhaimukhan Medetov, AITAA-Central Asia President; Mr. Ajaya Kumar Pradhan, AITAA-India President; Mr. Johny Johan, AITAA-Indonesia Representative; Mr. Kamal Raj Pande, AITAA-Nepal President; Mr. Shaukat Khan, AITAA-Pakistan President; Ms. Gaye Valerie V. Salacup, AITAA-Philippines President; Mr. Piyal Hennayake, AITAA-Sri Lanka Representative; Mr. Thanin Bumrungsap (GTE '72), AITAA-Thailand Vice President; Prof. Dr. Jy-Shing Wu, AITAA-USA President; and Dr. Ho Thanh Phong, AITAA-Vietnam President. Prof. Lalit Johri, Chairman of Reform Steering Committee; Dr. Kanchana Kanchanasut, Manager of DEC; and Prof. Tawatchai Tingsanchali, Group Leader of Reform Program V, also were invited to attend the meeting.

H.E. Mr. Heikki Tuunanen, Ambassador of Finland, on behalf of himself and Co-Chairman, Ambassador Uddin, welcomed all members to the meeting. The Panel members were informed that the Board of Trustees pays a lot of attention to the AIT Alumni Association activities and wants to further enhance the relation between AIT and AITAA. The Co-Chairmen expressed their pleasure in being part of this very important panel.

Topics that were discussed at the meeting were the presentation by AITAA Mother Chapter, presentation of papers from meeting on 22 April 2002 between AITAA and AIT Administration in the morning and among AITAA Chapters in the afternoon; presentation of AIT activities; and cooperation between AITAA and AIT.
