Prof. H. N. Phien and Prof. Chongrak Polprasert Re-appointed Deans
Prof. Huynh Ngoc Phien was re-appointed as Dean of the School of Advanced
Technologies for a second term. This re-appointment was based on the new Asian
Institute of Technology Bye-Laws, now in effect, which states that the Dean of
each School shall be appointed by the President.
President Armand expressed appreciation for Professor Phien's contribution to
the School and the Institute in his capacity as Dean over the past three
years, and is looking forward to continue working with him in this capacity.
Prof. Chongrak Polprasert's appointment as Dean of the School of Environment,
Resources and Development has been renewed for a further period of three years,
pending the outcome of the ongoing reform process. This renewal of appointment,
which takes effect from 1 July 2002, was based on the new Asian Institute of
Technology Bye-Laws, now in effect, which states that the Dean of each School
shall be appointed by the President.
On behalf of the administration, President Armand expressed appreciation for Prof. Chongrak's
contribution to the School and the Institute in his capacity as Dean over the past three
years of his administration, and is looking forward to continue working with him within the
scope of the renewed mission and vision of the Institute.
