AIT becomes Advisory Partner in New Generation Mobile Network Project

The Communications Research Laboratory (CRL), an Independent Administrative Authority under the Govt. of Japan, is responsible for the biggest R&D; activity in telecommunications in the public sector.

In April 2002, it has launched an ambitious 2-year long project on New Generation Mobile Network. The aim of this project is to establish a technology that enables users to choose freely between the diverse mobile communications services currently available to them and to flexibly utilize these services in a worry-free manner.

In promoting this project, CRL has decided to set up an International Advisory Committee by invitation. This Advisory
Committee meets twice a year, bringing together experts and other key figures from both Japan and overseas.

The mandate of the committee members is to be aware of the project's research plans and the details of the research and give their views, suggestions and advices on these issues.

Dr. Kazi Ahmed, Associate Professor of Telecommunications Program, School of Advanced Technologies, has been invited to become a Member of this Advisory Committee. This is a great honor and recognition of Dr. Ahmed's expertise in this area, as well as a well-deserved recognition and prestige for AIT and its Telecommunications Program.
