The Signing Ceremony on Environmental Toxicology, Technology and Management Program
On December 16, Prof. Dr. Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn, President of the Chulabhorn Research Institute (CRI), Prof. Jean-Louis Armand, AIT President, and Prof. Dr. Pornchai Matangkasombut, President of Mahidol University (MU) co-signed an agreement for the 'Inter-University Post-Graduate Education Program in Environmental Toxicology, Technology and Management (ETT&M;).' The agreement provides for a collaboration that will encourage to the greatest extent possible interaction and cooperation in education, research and training by faculty members, staff and students of the participating institutions.
ETT&M; is a joint program between CRI, AIT, and MU, aiming to facilitate and foster academic cooperation between the three institutions by offering an Inter-university post-graduate education program leading to jointly-conferred master's and doctoral degrees in a new field of study – Environmental Toxicology, Technology and Management. The support of this program will be mainly from scholarships awarded through the MU-CRI-AIT inter-university program. Other sources of support will include tuition from self-supporting students, AIT internal and external scholarships such as the King's and the Queen's Scholarships, Asian Development Bank, and possibly other donors support.
EET&M; program's curriculum, jointly developed by CRI, AIT and MU, with participation by a team of international experts, has been implemented since January 1999. Many experts from various countries and international organizations have been invited to teach in this program as 'Visiting Professors' such as those from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT); University of California, U.S.A.; The Edinburgh Center for Toxicology, England; McGill University, Canada; University of Insubria, Italy; Lincoln University, New Zealand; Seoul National University, Korea; etc.
