VISITING AIT
On December 02, 2002 Madam Béton-Delegue, Director of Sientific, Academic and Research Cooperation at the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs visited the Institute to review the existing French collaboration at AIT and discuss future opportunities of cooperation.
She was accompanied by Prof. Patrick Quidel, Regional Counselor for Cooperation and Culture, French Embassy. She met with the AIT President, Professor Jean-Louis Armand and key members of the administration. She also met with deans and faculty of schools and programs where the French cooperation has its key focus: Energy-Environment, Information Technology and Business Education. During a reception held in the afternoon, she had the opportunity to meet students, faculty and staff students involved in programs supported by the French cooperation

On December 2, 2002, Mr. Borje Wallberg (above), Sida Consultant visited AIT to review the Sida supported Scholarship Phase III (2002-2003) Program. During the visit he met Prof. Jean-Louis Armand, AIT President, Provost Mario T. Tabucanon, Prof. Gothom Arya, Registrar and Mrs. Monowara Hussein, Program Officer.
On the same day, Mr. Yoshiaki Fukuma (above left), Chief Representative, Toyota Regional Office and Mr. Apirat Sabjaratsaeng (above right), Engineer, Toyota Regional Office visited AIT to explore future collaboration with or support to be given to AIT. During the visit he met Prof. Jean-Louis Armand, AIT President and Prof. Huyh Ngoc Phien, Dean SAT and Ms. Kanya Worawichawong, Corporate Relations Coordinator.
A delegation from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) composed of Dr. Brahm Prakash, Director of Poverty Reduction and Social Development Division, Regional and Sustainable Development Department and Ms. Rebecca Salvo, Assistant Operations Analyst, Poverty Reduction and Social Development Division visited AIT on December 2, 2002. The visit aims to discuss the implementation of the ADB-AIT Networking Project and also to invite Prof. Jean-Louis Armand, AIT President to visit ADB and meet with ADB executives planned early next year.
The ADB-AIT Networking Project aims to improve knowledge management in ADB by utilizing knowledge expertise and experience of AIT – thereby supplementing ADB's internal knowledge creation efforts, augment its capacity for training and capacity building for DMCs and provide a more efficient and cost effective means of obtaining required skills and knowledge.
Implementation of the networking will operate as a clearing device under which cells will be set up in ADB and AIT --- to serve as focal point for exchange of information and apprise interested staff about the potential demand for and the supply of required skills and expertise.

On December 3, 2002, an agreement has been signed between Professor Marina Pok, Deputy Executive Director Asia-Europe Centre, Sciences PO (Fondation Nationale des Sciences Politiques) Paris, France and Professor Jean Louis Armand, President of AIT. Professor Gothom Arya, Registrar and Professor J. F. Broustail, SOM Faculty and Euro-Asian MBA Program Coordinator also attended the meeting.
The agreement was signed to further develop relationship between the two partners' institutions especially within the Synergy Program. The Fondation Nationale des Sciences Politiques, a prestigious French Institution in Paris will take an important part in the development of the new Synergy project implemented in the School of Management, AIT. The exchanges will focus on Students and Academic Resources (visiting faculty).

On December 3, 2002, a delegation from NASDA (National Space Development of Japan) visited AIT. The visit is aimed to discuss current and future NASDA-AIT collaboration.
National Space Development Agency of Japan (NASDA)
NASDA has provided support to AIT in the form of faculty secondment to the STAR Program since May 1999. Under the existing MOU between NASDA and AIT on the mutual cooperation in the field of earth observation and earth science signed on March 31, 2000, two faculty members in the STAR Program are now seconded by NASDA i.e, Dr. Honda and Prof. Kusanagi. Starting from January 2003, NASDA will second Dr. Lal Samarakoon to replace Dr. Honda.
NASDA also supported the establishment of the Asian Center for Research on Remote Sensing (ACRoRS) in 1998 as well as training and research conducted at ACRoRS and GAC in the related fields.

On December 6, 2002, Mr. Goran Haag, Project Manager, Department for Infrastructure and Economic Cooperation, Sida visited AIT to conduct the Annual Program Consultations between Sida and AIT.
