ID-105 features Prof. F. M. De Leon, Prof. A. Veneracion and the Phil. Madrigal Singers at AIT

To commemorate the Philippines 105th Independence Day (a.k.a. ID-105) on June 12, 2003, a lecture
on June 11, 2003, will be conducted by Prof. Felipe M. de Leon Jr. and a performance by the Philippine Madrigal Singers under the patronage of Prof. Andrea Ofilada Veneracion will be held at 5:00 p.m. at the AIT Conference Center

Prof. Felipe M. de Leon Jr.'s lecture will focus on the 'Philippines - Thailand Relations: A Shared Cultural Heritage.' He is the Commissioner of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts of the Philippines and an eminent Professor of Humanities at the University of the Philippines, Diliman, Quezon City.

Philippine National artist Prof. Andrea Ofilada Veneracion is the founder of the Philippine Madrigal Singers (Madz as fondly called) in 1963. Madz is an internationally-renowned choir group that specializes in the highly sophisticated, unaccompanied polyphonic piece known as the madrigal, a popular musical form in the 16th - 17th centuries. They won the much-coveted European Grand Prix Competition in 1997, making them the only Southeast Asian choir to ever win the award.

Pre-reception drinks and snacks will be served by the members of the Filipino Association (FilA) and home-cooked Filipino foods prepared by Mrs. Cora Bamrungcheep will be sold in front of the AIT Conference Center to coincide the event. Admission is free
