Visiting AIT

On May 26, 2003, Ms. Denise Colonna d' Istria, European Commission (EC) Program Officer in Charge for Asia Link visited. AIT. Her visit was aimed at monitoring the developments of Project 3: 'Gender, Development and Public Policy Studies in the Asian context' and Project 12: 'Geo-Environmental Engineering Curriculum Development for the South and Southeast Asian Region.'
During her visit she met with Prof. Jean Louis Armand, AIT President and Prof. Mario T. Tabucanon, Provost.
On May 27, 2003, Mr. Paul L. Chang (right), Principal Education Specialist, Mekong Department, Asian Development Bank (ADB) visited AIT.
The visit aimed at collaborating with AIT for short training courses for the ADB's Regional Technical Assistance Project named 'Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) Phnom Penh Plan for Development Management'.
During the visit Mr. Chang met with Prof. Jean-Louis Armand, AIT President and Prof. Mario T. Tabucanon (left), Provost. In the meeting he was joined by Dr. Nazrul Islam, Coordinator ADB - AIT Networking Project, and Ms. Kanya Worawichawong, Corporate Relations Coordinator.
Mr. Chang - accompanied by Dr. Nazrul Islam and Dr. Pritam K. Shrestha, Program Specialist, ADB - AIT Networking Project - also met with Prof. Gajendra Singh, AIT Extension Dean, Dr. Wiboon Boonyatharokul, ARD Director and other AIT Extension senior staff. He discussed the possibility of arranging a number of short training courses (scheduled courses as well as customized ones) for GMS senior government officials under the Phnom Penh Plan with ADB funding commencing July 2003.
In his meeting with Dr. Kanchana Kanchanasut, DEC Director, and Mr. Jean-Philippe Thouard, Assistant to the AIT President, Mr. Chang discussed the possibility of using DEC service for some ADB projects, and also about presenting a project proposal related to ICT use in education at the next meeting of the GMS working group on human resource development, due to be held in Yangon, Myanmar, in the near future

On May 29, 2003 Prof. Thorsteinn Thorsteinsson, Adjunct Professor and Senior Research Engineer and 14 environmental engineering students from the University of Iceland visited AIT.
