DEC's Workshop on 'Creating of Lessons on E-Learning by Using VClass'
On September 24-26, 2003, the Office of Information Technology for Administration for Educational Development of the Commission on Higher Education, together with the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) and E-Learning & Multimedia Working Group organized the workshop on 'Creating of Lessons on E-Learning by Using VClass' at Computer Software Training Center, the Commission on Higher Education, Bangkok. The workshop aimed to provide knowledge to faculty, lecturers or staff members of educational institutes so that they can efficiently design the e-learning lessons. The workshop also gave the opportunity for them to have the real learning and be able to describe the format of distance learning by using VClass system to design the lessons on E-learning. 30 faculty and officials who are responsible for the development of teaching and learning media in the universities, government and private institutes as well as Rajamangala Institutes of Technology, Rajabhat Institutes and other agencies that are connected with UniNet attended this workshop.
VClass is an E-learning System in the form of Virtual classroom and Distance Learning by using internet and world wide web properties and resources to create meaningful learning. VClass consists of two working structures 1) Content Management which includes VClass Authoring Tool and VClass Player 2) E-Learning Management of VClass LMS Software. It was developed by AIT as an open source software which provides the opportunity to educational institutes and non-profit organizations to use it for free of charge. The users can also adjust the system capacity to respond to the need of each institute and organization.
From the workshop, the participants can bring the knowledge and skills gained from the training to produce courseware developed from VClass to jointly use on UniNet. They will also have positive attitude and realize the importance and the benefits of the education through UniNet. They will be able to introduce and promote education through UniNet to the personnel in their institutes and other interested persons as well.
