The Government of Denmark, since 1971, has provided support to AIT in the form of scholarships and faculty secondment. The support was expanded, beginning in 1989, when the cooperation was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) covering a period of five years. The cooperation was further strengthened and continued with the signing of the subsequent MOU's in 1994 and 1998 and the ongoing cooperation of 1999-2004. As of August 2003, a total of 406 students graduated from AIT with Danish support.
