Professor P. J. Crutzen comes next in the Nobel Laureate and Eminent Persons Lecture Series
After the recent lecture of Professor Jerome Karle, the Nobel Laureates and eminent persons' lecture series, coming next is Professor Paul J. Crutzen, Nobel Laureate for Chemistry.
Prof. Crutzen's lecture will be on the subject of 'The Antarctic Ozone Hole - A Manmade Chemical Instability of the Stratosphere - What should we learn from it?.'
The lecture to be held on Wednesday, December 3, 2003, is the second in a series hosted at AIT by the International Peace Foundation, in partnership with various national organizations, institutions and enterprises in Thailand. It will be held at the AIT Conference Center.
Professor Crutzen's research has been in the fields of stratosphere and troposphere chemistry and their role in the biochemical cycles and climate. He identified biomass burning, especially in the tropics, as an important source of air pollution with important impacts on earth climate and the ozone layer. He also contributed to the studies on the environmental consequences of a nuclear war. He is the worldwide most cited author in Geosciences.
The lecture will be followed by a Q&A; session. Those wishing to talk more with Professor Crutzen or share their research efforts with him can join him at a reception in the AIT Conference Center Dining Hall after the lecture.
