Nobel laureate Ramos-Horta honors AIT with lecture
His Excellency Mr. Jose Ramos-Horta (right), Timor-Leste's Senior Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Co-operation, will be the third lecturer in the Nobel Laureates and Eminent Persons Lecture Series hosted at the AIT by the International Peace Foundation in partnership with various organizations and institutions in Thailand. The lecture will be held at AIT on January 27 at the AIT Conference Center.
The series was honored by the lectures of Professor Jerome Karle and Professor Paul J. Crutzen since it was introduced in November 2003. Ramos-Horta will be speaking on 'The Unipolar World - Can the U.S. lead?' at 2:30 p.m.
The Nobel Peace Prize winner (1996) is also a recipient of many other international awards including the Grand Cross of the Order of Freedom awarded by the President of Portugal. He holds more than 10 Doctor Honoris Causa from some of the most prestigious universities in the US, Australia
and Portugal and is a patron of the International Peace Foundation.
Mr. Ramos-Horta is also a Visiting Professor at the University of New South Wales, Sydney, and a Distinguished Visiting Professor with the University
of Victoria, Melbourne.
A Q&A; session will follow the lecture. Those wishing to talk more with Mr. Ramos-Horta or share their research efforts with him can join him at a reception in the AIT Conference Center Dining Hall after the lecture.
