Hon. Gareth Evans' lecture on Feb. 9
The Hon. Gareth Evans (right), President and Chief Executive of the International Crisis Group (ICG), Belgium and former Foreign Minister of Australia will give a lecture on February 9, 2004 at 2:30 p.m. in the AIT Conference Center Auditorium.
Honorable Evans will speak on the topic 'Conflict Resolution and Humanitarian Intervention in Response to Genocide.' His lecture is the fifth of the Nobel Laureates and Eminent Persons Lecture Series -- hosted at AIT -- by the International Peace Foundation in partnership with various organizations and institutions in Thailand.
Honorable Evans is one of Australia's longest serving Foreign Minister from 1988-1996 . As Foreign Minister, he played a major role in the developing of the UN Peace Plan for Cambodia, founding the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum (APEC) and initiating the Canberra Commission on the elimination of nuclear weapons.
A Q&A; session will follow the lecture. Those wishing to talk more with Honorable Evans or share their research efforts with him can join him at a reception in the AIT Conference Center Dining Hall after the lecture.
