Visiting AIT

On February 4-6, 2004 some senior administrators from the University of
Central Punjab (UCP, formerly PCBA/PICS) visited AIT. The delegation was comprised of Prof. Sh. Atique-ur-Rehman, Dean; Prof. Ajmal Hussain, Associate Dean-
Academics; and Prof. Mohsin Mukhtar, Technical Manager.
During their visit, the delegation met with Prof. Jean-Louis Armand, President; Prof. Mario T. Tabucanon, Provost; Prof. H. N. Phien, Dean SAT; Dr. Nazrul Islam, Acting Dean, SOM; Prof. A. B. Sharma, Dr. Sundar Venkatesh, Dr. Barbara Igel, Mr. Tapio J. Erke, Mr. Anwar Naveed, Mr. Sanjeev Jayasinghe, Promotions Director; and Ms. Nadeera Rangika, Program Associate.
The visit was aimed at re-establishing links made in the mid-90's with AIT,
especially with the School of Management and the School of Advanced
Technologies. The possibility of providing short term training to UCP faculty
in the above-mentioned fields was discussed.
In addition, further discussions centered on the possibility of guiding UCP in
setting up their Telecommunications and Computer Science departments at the
graduate level.
On February 4, a delegation from the Open Society Institute (OSI), USA visited AIT. OSI is extending its Supplementary Grant Program (Burma) to students from Myanmar at AIT. The delegation was headed by Ms. Maartha Leorke, Director (OSI), USAIT.

During the visit, they met with Prof. Jean-Louis Armand, AIT President and Prof. Mario T. Tabucanon, Provost.
The objective of the visit was to learn more about the situation of Myanmar students and to explore how to expand the collaboration with AIT. OSI provides international scholarships for students worldwide and the Supplementary Grant Program (Burma) specifically assists Myanmar students to pursue advanced studies in various universities around the world.
