Visiting AIT
On March 8, 2004, His Excellency Mr. Chan Heng Wing, Ambassador of Singapore to the Kingdom of Thailand visited AIT. During the visit H.E. Ambassador Chan Heng Wing was first welcomed at the Admin Building and met with Prof. Jean-Louis Armand, AIT President; Prof. Mario T. Tabucanon, Provost; Prof. Worsak Kanok-Nukulchai, Dean SCE and Dr. Jonathan Richmond from Transportation Engineering FoS, SCE.
H.E. Ambassador Chan Heng Wing then proceeded to Room N238, North Academic (SCE) Building where he conducted an introduction on Singapore Government and society for Singapore-bound AIT masters and doctoral students so they can understand the context in which transport planning takes place. A discussion then followed His Excellency's presentation.
The Singaporean Government is sponsoring a 4-day study tour of 15 persons to Singapore. A tentative seven SCE and seven SOM students will be departing with Dr. Jonathan Richmond for Singapore on March 17, 2004. This overseas study visit will allow the students to have the opportunity to observe the highest quality of professionalism in planning transport systems in the region and learn what elements of Singapore's success might be translated to their home countries.
