Welcome
The School of Environment, Resources and Development is pleased to welcome Dr. Vilas Nitivattananon as an Assistant Professor in the Urban Environmental Management Field of Study for a period of two years, effective April 16, 2004.
Dr. Vilas, a Thai citizen, graduated with a doctoral degree in Civil Engineering and Systems Management from the University of Pittsburgh, USA in 1994 and his M.Eng. in Water Engineering from AIT in 1991. He also obtained master's degree in Economics from Thammasat University. Before joining AIT, he was working with the Institute of International Education as Asia Regional Manager for Exchange Program for Sustainable Growth of United States-Asia Environmental Partnership (US-AEP). He has professional experiences in a number of environmental management projects for government agencies, industries, and international agencies (including ADB, the World Bank, UNDP, JICA, DANCED, USAID and AusAID).
His research interests include management of urban environmental infrastructure, systems analysis and modeling, strategic and integrated planning, environmental assessment and economic analysis. Dr. Vilas, hired under the CIDA-AIT SEA-UEMA project, will coordinate the project's four application components and teach the course ED79.12: Management of Urban Infrastructure and Services this August 2004 semester.
