AITAA donates scholarships, extends prize commitment
The AIT Alumni Association (AITAA) on May 10, 2004 donated checks worth one million baht to AIT for scholarships. The handover ceremony was held in the Admin. Building with Mr. Chainarong Na Lamphun, President of the AITAA Mother Chapter handing the checks to Prof. Jean-Louis Armand, AIT President.
The donation will be used for the AITAA Partial Scholarship - worth THB 450,000 for a student of any nationality in any field of study at AIT for the August 2004 Semester and the Index International Group Co. Ltd. Partial Scholarship (through AITAA) - worth THB450,000 for a student of any nationality in the Water Engineering and Management field of study at AIT for the August 2004 Semester. The remaining THB100,000 will be used to replenish the balance of the existing Chainarong Na Lamphun Graduation Prize.
At the ceremony, Prof. Jean-Louis Armand, AIT President reaffirmed the important role the alumni play as AIT's ambassadors of goodwill, and stressed that they are an important and much respected part of the AIT family, and an invaluable resource for the Institute.
Prof. Armand encouraged the AITAA Mother Chapter and National Chapters as well as alumni in general to utilize services provided by the Alumni Relations Office (ARO) of AIT, which has been established as a communication point for alumni. Alumni were urged to contribute articles to the AIT Alumni Newsletter, particularly featuring articles about successful alumni.
Mr. Chainarong Na Lamphun, AITAA President, expressed the AITAA Mother Chapter's willingness to support AIT in bringing more partial scholarships as donations from successful alumni in Thailand and other countries with the support of AITAA National Chapters. Professor Armand commended this initiative.

AITAA officers in attendance were Prof. Dennes T. Bergado, General Secretary; Mr. Anupam Das, Auditing Secretary; Ms. Naw Wah Wah Htoo, AITAA Finance Secretary; Dr. Hoang Le Tien, AITAA Advisor; Ms. Gaye Valerie V. Salacup, AITAA Program Associate; and Ms. Mi Mi Hnaung, AITAA Program Assistant.
