International Training Course on Solid Waste Management for Environmental Preservation

The Association for Overseas Technical Scholarship (AOTS), Japan, in cooperation with the AIT Extension of the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) and EBARA Hatakeyama Memorial Fund, will organize an International Training Course on Solid Waste Management for Environmental Preservation to be held from August 16-24, 2004 at AIT.

The training course will provide participants with technical know-how on the essential aspects of municipal and industrial solid wastes management and describe advantages and limitations of available solid waste treatment alternatives.

6-14 July 2004: AIT Extension in collaboration with SciDevNet/UNESCO will organize a workshop for journalists and other communicators from South East Asia on 'The use of ICT's for reporting on the science of HIV/AIDS'.

Objectives:
The workshop aims to raise awareness of the menace of HIV/AIDS among South East Asian countries and train the participants in using better means in handling information relevant to HIV/AIDS.

The workshop will cover various issues on HIV/AIDS in South East Asia.

The School of Environment, Resources and Development welcomes Dr. Toshiya Aramaki as Visiting Associate Professor in the Environmental Engineering and Management (EEM) Field of Study, seconded by the Government of Japan, for a period of two years starting May 20, 2004.

Dr. Aramaki obtained his B.Eng.
