SEAMEO INNOTECH, AIT sign accords
On July 20, 2004, Prof. Jean-Louis Armand (left), AIT President and Dr. Erlinda C. Pefianco (right), Center Director, Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization, Regional Centre for Educational Innovation and Technology (SEAMEO INNOTECH), Philippines signed an agreement on exploratory and development cooperation.
The event - held at Room 260, Admin Building - was witnessed by Prof. Mario T. Tabucanon, Provost and Dr. Arief S. Sadiman, Director of SEAMEO Secretariat, Thailand. The event was also attended by Prof. Huynh Ngoc Phien, Dean SAT; Prof. Gajendra Singh, Dean AIT Extension; Dr. M. Nazrul Islam, Acting Dean SOM and Ms. Hnin Aye Lwin, Program Officer, Office of the President.
The formal accord - covering the period of 2004-2006 - aims to recognize human resource development and institutional capacity building as basis for a mutually beneficial cooperation program.
The program further aims to implement and share knowledge, information and technical expertise on the various aspects of education, human resource development and related concerns; formulate and undertake research, training and other technology-based educational development interventions for the purpose of improving/upgrading education service delivery in support of the development priorities of SEAMEO member countries; coordinate efforts towards mobilizing resources, technical and logistic support and other forms of assistance from bilateral, multilateral and international financing institutions, and other third party donors, in undertaking projects and activities identified; and initiate projects. A periodic joint review and assessment on the effectiveness and impact of activities and projects will be carried out as well as interventions and measures to ensure sustainability.
