SEA-UEMA organizes Professional Training Program
The Southeast Asia Urban Environmental Management Applications (SEA-UEMA) Project will organize the Professional Training Program on Financing and Cost Recovery for the Provision of Urban Environmental Infrastructure Services to be held on 13-15 December 2004 at the AIT Conference Center, Asian Institute of Technology. The Training Program is one of the planned capacity-building activities under the SEA-UEMA Project, a five-year partnership program between AIT and the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), which aims to improve the urban environmental management (UEM) policies and good practices in the region.
The main topic of the Training Program is the role of cost recovery in financing urban infrastructure services. The specific theme is placed in the broader framework of applying regulatory, economic and financial measures in environmental management.
The target participants of the Training Program are members of the UEM Sub-sector Networks who are:
- directly involved in the financial management in the delivery of urban environmental services, particularly on water and sanitation, solid waste management and air quality improvement and
- working in city authorities, government agencies, NGOs, academic and research institutions, and other organizations in eight Southeast Asian countries (Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Philippines, Timor Leste, and Vietnam)
