Promotion to Professorial Rank
I am pleased to announce that the Executive Committee at its 28 February 2005 meeting approved the promotion to the rank of Professor of Dr Peter Haddawy, SAT/Computer Science & Information Management Fields of Study.
Professor Haddawy's major areas of specialization are Decision-Theoretic Problem Solving, Probabilistic Reasoning, Modeling of User Preferences, Electronic Commerce, and Medical Decision Making.
Professor Haddawy has made seminal contributions in the areas where he is an internationally renowned expert, such as the combination of logic and probability, decision-theoretic planning and the representation and elicitation of preferences. He has also been working on applications in diverse areas such as medical decision making, intelligent tutoring systems and electronic commerce. Professor Haddawy has earned an admirable international reputation as an excellent researcher and productive writer for sound and illuminating results. He has been a leader in the area of flexible preference representation, and his work in this area has earned publications in many venues, including the top journals and conferences in artificial intelligence. He is in demand as a speaker, participant, and organizer at leading conferences in the international artificial intelligence community.
