Visiting AIT

On 26 April 2005, H. E. Mr. Ralph L. Boyce, Jr. (above left), Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, the Embassy of the United States of America to Thailand visited AIT. During the visit H.E. Boyce met with Prof. Mario T. Tabucanon, Acting President and Provost; Dr. Nazrul Islam, Acting Dean SOM; Dr. Tess del Rosario, Acting Dean, AIT Extension; Dr. Amrit Bart, faculty of AARM/ SERD; Mr. Karma Rana, Institute Secretary; Ms. Kulvimol Wasuntiwongse, Secretary to the Board; Mr. Tenzin Rabgyal and Ms. Hnin Aye Lwin, Program Officers, Office of the President.

The visit also called as an occasion to strengthen the collaboration between AIT and the US. Prof. Mario T. Tabucanon, Acting President presented the Institute's academic offerings and research activities, facilities and relevant developments to H. E. Mr. Ralph L. Boyce.

H.E. Boyce also visited the AIT Extension, Energy, Pulp & Paper Building and AARM fish hatchery. Dr. Amrit Bart took the opportunity to highlight some of the US government funded research and development activities underway. For example he explained that AIT has enjoyed 15 years of research support through ACRSP (Aquaculture Collaborative Research Support Program) funded by USAID. Moreover, H.E. Boyce was updated on the progress of recent Post-Tsunami Livelihoods Rehabilitation Program funded by the US government (USAID) in which AIT plays the leading role along with the University of Rhode Island and University of Hawaii - Helo.

On 28 April 2005, Prof. Mario T. Tabucanon, AIT Acting President and Provost welcomed H.E. Mr. Mir Hussain Bakhsh Bangulzai (above, 3rd from left), Ambassador of Pakistan to Thailand and Mr. Mohammad Nafees Zakaria (2nd from left), Deputy Chief of the Mission and Counsellor, Pakistan Embassy, Bangkok.

Joining the meeting too were Dr. Siriporn Khampalikit (above, 2nd from right: above), Vice Rector, Operations Management, Thammasat University, Rangsit Campus; Dr. Nazrul Islam, Acting Dean, SOM; Dr. Teresita Cruz-del Rosario, Acting Dean, AIT Extension; Mr. Karma Rana, Institute Secretary and Mr. Kyaw Soe Hlaing, Alumni Relations Officer.

On the same day, Prof. Mario T. Tabucanon also welcomed Mr. Horace M. S. Ho (above left), Senior Vice President, Human Resources, Johnson Electric Group, Hong Kong and Mr. Santanoo Medhi (second from left), General Manager, Business Equipment and Personal Products Motor Business Unit, Johnson Electric Industrial Manufactory Ltd. Hong Kong and AIT alumni (IEM '94 ).

Joining the meeting were Prof. Chongrak Polprasert, Dean SERD and Acting Dean SCE; Dr. Nazrul Islam, Acting Dean, SOM; Prof. John C. S. Tang, SOM faculty; Dr. Voratas Kachitvichyanukul, IEM FoS Coordinator; Mr. Anupam Das, Senior Program Associate, SOM and Mr. Kyaw Soe Hlaing, Alumni Relations Officer of AIT.

Mr. Ho and Mr. Medhi also visited IEM Field of Study and School of Management where they conducted interviews to some AIT graduating students. Due to the limited time spent during their visit, they could not fully cover interviews therefore curriculum vitaes of other applicants will be processed in Hong Kong and a follow up interview will be made.
